The Advantage Program is a reward and recognition program aimed at recognizing the achievements of highly ranked Victorians aged 13-17. The program comprises eight sessions to be held throughout the year. This is an important program in the player pathway of Victorian juniors. The Playoff at Melbourne Park is the final session of the Advantage Program for 2009. Hockey Victoria Men's State League 1 Grand Final



Camberwell and Doncaster faced one another in the Victorian State League 1 Grand Final on Sunday 20 September 2009. In the end Doncaster Hockey was too strong defeating Camberwell 3 goals to 2.

Hockey Victoria Women's State League 1 Grand Final





Greensborough defeated Hawthorn in the Victorian Woman's State League 1 SL1 Grand Final on Sunday 20 September 2009. At half time the scores were locked at 0-0 and by full time the teams had scored one goal each which forced the Grand Final into penalty time. Greensborough finally won 5 penalty strokes to 4 making Greensborough Hockey Club the Women's State League Premiers for 2009.

AUS Cheer - Australian Showdown




On Sunday 30 August Gymnastics Victoria hosted the AUS Cheer Australian Showdown at Springers Leasuer Centre in Keysborough. The Showdown was the final state competition for 2009 and the curtain raiser for the National Grand Championships to be held later in the year.

AUS Cheer - Cheer for a Cure




Round 3 of AUS Cheer's National Cup series in Victoria was also a fund raiser for the Starlight Foundation. The Starlight Foundation raises money to assist seriously ill children and their families. AUS Cheer Cheer for a Cure was held at Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough.

Victorian Bushfire Relief - Back to Tennis Day




Former world number one and seven time Grand Slam singles champion Evonne Cawley headed a list of tennis greats including John Fitzgerald, Paul McNamee, Nicole Pratt and Wayne Arthurs who went to to Whittlesea on 19 April 2009 for a special Back to Tennis Day to help the region’s bushfire recovery effort. Tennis Victoria and the clubs supporting the event want to show those affected by the fires that the world hasn’t forgotten. Event Manager Brian Beers said that “This is a chance for some respite from their daily battle to get their lives back to normal. It is also some great entertainment and a bit of a thank you to the countless volunteers involved in firefighting and relief efforts. Alicia Molik Cup


The Alicia Molik Cup is an under 12 event for members of metropolitan and regional tennis clubs in Victoria held at the historical Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday 29 March 2009. Both boys and girls compete in teams of 4 (2 girls and 2 boys). The event focuses on promoting the values of participation, competition, team spirit and good sportsmanship among the young competitors and includes being part of the talent scout program. This new event is a great chance for the kids to test themselves in a strong team competition. I hope that some of the kids will go on to become the next generation of Aussie champions. Moomba is an annual festival in Melbourne (and one of the largest and longest running festivals in Australia). Tennis Victoria had a large stand at Moomba 2009 in the Alexander Gardens. Australian Open 2009



Australian Open 2009. The Australian Open is one of four Grand Slam tennis tournaments held each January at Melbourne Park (Rod Laver Arena). During the 2009 Australian Open the tournament recorded the hightest every attendance at any Grand Slam event ever (more than 66,000 people).
