On Sunday 1 February 2009 Gabriella Cilmi and The Cat Empire played at Hisense Arena during the A Day on the Baseline off court entertainment at the 2009 Australian Open. Gabriella Cilmi then went on to take center stage at Rod Laver Arena to entertain the spectators as a curtain raiser for the Australian Open Men's Singles Final between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
